Ghatsila, the missing glory!

3rd January 2017

Today visited a small town Ghatsila, 50 Km from Jamshedpur. It had a prominent place in the geographic map of India. A proud host to the Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) and the Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL). The hills around has unlimited supply of many minerals including the precious Uranium.

20 years back it used to my favourite holiday destination for summers. Infact it still is a location on the tourist map of nearby metros; a place to change your "Hawa and pani". But seeing the same town today does not give that  Happy Feeling. Many of the plants closed, lay offs done and many have left their homes for greener pastures. HCL and UCIL operates with a lean structure. Even if some stayed back , the Offsprings lured to the metros. I can see a lot of corollary between a person character and the township . Is it advisable to be over dependant on some of our characteristics and over harness it? Is it not good that when you have some good asset for sustainable life, why not  work to create few more qualities, incase the strong ones stops firing . Should we over depend on what's is good today for us or use this period to find the next good thing in life. This is warning to all those decision makers in these township. What will happen to youth and charm of your town, if for what it exist today cease to exist in future! Can't we work create some more sustainable assets and prolong the youth and glory of our town and lives!
